About us
A townhouse, fourteen rooms, one family.
The house was built in 1768 as somebody’s home, and it has been a hotel for about a hundred years. We have run it for the last twelve.
We kept the brass keys, the cornicing and the staircase, and changed everything you sleep on. The desk is never empty, and the person on it knows the house.

What we fuss about
Beds, breakfast, and a real person at the desk.
The bedsHand-made mattresses, cotton sheets, and a choice of pillows from the cupboard.
The breakfastCooked to order until half ten, from people we buy from by name.
The deskStaffed all night, so a late train or an early taxi is our job, not yours.
The bar, from five
Open to everyone, not just the people upstairs.
Local gin, a short wine list and a fire in the winter. Stay for dinner round the corner and come back for a nightcap.
