Email signature generator
A tidy signature that still looks right when it reaches someone - most break in Outlook. Fill it in, press copy, paste it into your email settings.
Why it looks plain.
Email programs - Outlook above all - throw away most of the styling a web page uses, so an
elaborate signature arrives broken. This is built the way that survives: a simple table
with the styling written into every line. Plain and intact beats fancy and shattered.
Questions
Press Copy, then paste it into the signature box in your email settings - in Gmail that is Settings, See all settings, Signature; in Outlook it is Settings, Mail, Compose and reply. Paste copies the formatted signature, not the code, so it appears ready to use.
Because a signature only points AT an image, it does not carry it. A file on your computer shows while you build it and is broken for everyone you email - they do not have your file. Upload the photo somewhere public first (your own website is ideal) and paste its https address. If that is a hassle, a signature with no photo is perfectly normal.
On purpose. Email programs, Outlook especially, throw away most of the styling a web page uses - columns, shadows, rounded boxes - so a fancy signature arrives broken. This is built the old-fashioned way that actually survives: a simple table with the styling written into every line. Plain and intact beats elaborate and broken.
Yes. It is kept narrow enough to fit a phone's mail app without being squashed, which is where a lot of wide, multi-column signatures fall apart.
No. The signature is built from what is in the address bar and nothing is stored, which is also why you can bookmark a finished one - the values are in the link.
