A handmade shop listing craft pieces with prices and an Add to cart button on each

A marketplace is how people who have never heard of you find your work, and it is an expensive place to sell to the people who already follow you. Your own shop does not replace it. It gives you somewhere to send the ones who already know your name, where a piece that exists once is stock of one, a made-to-order piece can still be ordered when the shelf is empty, and the buyer belongs to you.

Building your site, pages and blog are free forever. Handmade seller website builder is not - it needs Starter ($14.99/mo). The 14-day free trial covers it, and starting the trial needs a card. That tier covers 20 products and carries a 2% platform fee per sale (1% from Growth Business up); a bigger range is on Growth Business.

Before you start the trial

  • Nothing is charged today. Cancel any time before day 15 and you are not charged at all - the account moves to the Free plan and your site and its data stay.
  • Taking payment runs through your own Stripe account. Connecting it is a separate identity check with Stripe that can take a few days, so start it on day one if you want to take a real payment inside the trial.
  • The trial runs on Starter only. Moving up a plan part-way through ends the trial and starts the paid subscription, so if you already know you need the bigger tier, start there instead.
  • One trial per account.

What it replaces

  • A marketplace listing fee
  • A commission on every sale
  • A separate website
  • A payment setup
  • One-of-a-kind pieces counted by hand
  • A buyer list the marketplace keeps
  • Photographs re-uploaded for each channel

Stock of one, handled properly

Track stock on a piece and set it to one. It sells once and comes off the shop, rather than being sold twice and refunded with an apology.

Made to order, when you want it

Allow backorders on the lines you can make again and they stay orderable at zero stock. Leave it off for the ones you cannot, and they go quietly unavailable.

Patterns and downloads

Sell digital products alongside physical ones. Each buyer gets their own download link, with a limit on how many times it can be used.

The buyer is yours

Name, email and order history live in your own dashboard rather than behind a marketplace account you do not control.

Reviews that carry over

Star ratings and written reviews on each piece, flagged as a verified purchase when the reviewer bought it, and held for your approval before they show.

Paid into your own account

Stripe checkout settles into your Stripe account. There is no commission on the sale - a flat plan and card processing, and that is the lot.

How it works

Live in an afternoon - no code, no plugins.

1

List what you have made

Photos, description and price. Something you made once is stock of one, and it comes off the shop the moment it sells.

2

Decide what happens when it sells out

Made to order? Allow it to be ordered anyway. One of a kind? Do not - and it disappears cleanly instead of being sold twice.

3

Connect Stripe and publish

The money is yours minus card processing, and so is the buyer: their name, email and order history sit in your dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Probably not. It is how strangers find your work, and paying a cut on a first order from someone who had never heard of you is a marketing cost. The argument is about the second order, and the buyer who came from your own Instagram and did not need finding at all.

Turn stock tracking on for that piece and set the count to one. The moment it sells it is gone from the shop. That is the difference between a sold-out listing and an apologetic refund.

Allow backorders on those and they stay orderable when stock hits zero, so a made-to-order line keeps selling while you work through the queue. It is a per-product setting, so one-offs and repeatable lines can live in the same shop.

Yes. Digital products carry their own file and a maximum number of downloads per buyer, and a digital-only order skips shipping entirely.

Nothing as commission. There is a small platform fee per transaction on the entry tier and card processing from Stripe, and that is the whole of it. Put your own numbers into the marketplace fee calculator rather than take a figure from us.

Yes. Discount codes take a percentage or a fixed amount, or give free shipping, or give buy-X-get-Y, each with a start date, an expiry, a total usage cap and a per-customer limit - so a code you post once cannot be shared into a hole.

Give each piece a weight and price a shipping method in weight brackets, so a ring and a quilt are not charged the same. You can also set one flat rate, an amount above which postage is free, and collection in person at no charge.

No. Products import from a spreadsheet with their prices, categories and stock, and images are attached per product - so a range that already exists somewhere comes across as a file rather than an evening.
