Brokers and rental marketplaces bring you customers and charge a share of each one, typically somewhere between 15 and 25 per cent depending on the platform and the deal. That is money well spent on a stranger and money wasted on the customer who has hired from you three times. A direct booking channel does not replace the broker - it gives the repeat customer somewhere to go that costs you nothing per booking.
The verdict
Keep the broker for the bookings you would not otherwise get. Run direct booking alongside it so repeat customers, phone enquiries and anyone who searched your name by hand has a way through that does not carry commission. The car rental commission calculator will tell you what the shift is worth on your own numbers before you commit to anything.
