Moving from a hand-built site
Move the site somebody built for you years ago
No login to the old system, no developer to chase, nothing to export. We read the site the way your customers do.
November offer: first month free
1 month free on any plan below, then the normal price. Ends 23 November.
Start with the offer - it is applied automatically.
No account, no card, nothing published. Or go straight to rebuilding it as a real site.
What comes across
- Every page your navigation links to, up to twenty.
- The text, the images, the logo and the colour the site is built around.
- Your contact details, which are usually the part most out of date.
- The addresses, which on an older site are often the only thing search engines know you by.
What does not
- Custom code and anything bespoke the site did. Those are the pieces nobody can maintain for you, which is usually why you are reading this.
- Anything behind a login, and years of form submissions.
- Hosting and email, which stay with whoever provides them until you decide otherwise.
It rebuilds, it does not copy. We read your words and structure and lay
them out in Webkio's own sections, so what you see is the thing you would actually be
buying, not a screenshot of what you already have.
Your addresses are kept. A page at services/implants arrives at
services/implants. Where an address cannot be kept exactly, the page takes the nearest
one and the old address redirects to it permanently.
Up to twenty pages, followed through your own navigation in the order
your menu lists them. A big site brings its main pages, not its whole archive.
Nothing is published and nothing on your site changes. The preview sits
on a Webkio address search engines are told to ignore, and deletes itself after 72 hours
unless you make a free account to keep it.
Questions about moving from a hand-built site
Yes. The only input is the public address of your site - no hosting login, no FTP, no developer, no export file. If you can open your site in a browser, we can read it.
You do, and you can edit every word of it yourself. That is the difference being bought here: not a nicer site, a site you are not locked out of.
The domain stays wherever it is registered and you point it at the new site when you are ready. If you cannot reach the account it sits in, that is worth sorting out regardless of what you do next, because it is the one piece of this nobody else should be holding for you.
