These two are not really competitors, and a page pretending otherwise would waste your time. Fresha is a marketplace with a diary attached: its value is that strangers browsing for a salon near them find you. Webkio is your own website with the same diary on it: its value is that the client who already knows your name has somewhere to book that belongs to you. The useful question is not which one wins, it is which of your clients each one is for.

The verdict

Run both. Fresha earns its fee on a stranger and earns nothing useful on your Tuesday regular, so let it do the first job and give the second one somewhere to go. If you are only going to do one thing after reading this, it is getting your own address printed on the appointment card.

What each one costs

The two charge in different shapes, which is the whole story. Fresha is a monthly subscription that scales with your bookable team members, plus a one-time fee on each new client the marketplace introduces - a share of that client's first appointment, charged once and not again on their second visit. Their own terms turn on which booking link was used: the Book Now link from your own Fresha profile, the one you would put on your site or your Instagram, does not incur the fee, while a booking that came from the marketplace itself does. The rate, and whether it is floored or capped, are on their pricing page rather than ours. Check their pricing page for today's rates; they have changed more than once and we are not going to quote a number at you that might be a year old. Webkio is a flat plan whatever your booking volume, plus whatever your card processor charges, and there is no per-booking fee of any kind because there is no marketplace here to pay for. The shapes mean the comparison flips depending on your mix: if most of your month is new faces found by the app, the subscription-plus-introduction model is doing real work for you. If most of your month is the same forty people, you are paying a per-team-member subscription to hold a diary for clients who already knew where you were.

What moving involves

Do not switch. Add. Keep the marketplace listing exactly as it is, because delisting mostly just loses you the bookings it was bringing, and put your own site underneath it for the people who already know you. Then do the one thing that actually moves regulars across: put your own address on the things they already look at - the appointment card, the confirmation message, your Google Business profile, the window. Export your client list before you need it rather than after, whatever you decide.

When to choose them instead

The marketplace is the product, and it genuinely works: people browse Fresha looking for a salon near them without knowing your name, and that is discovery you cannot buy cheaply any other way. The new-client fee is charged once, on that client's first appointment, and never again - so for a chair you could not have filled yourself it is a fair trade. Nobody is browsing Webkio looking for a salon, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

Probably not, and certainly not on the strength of a page written by us. If the marketplace is bringing you new clients every month it is doing a job your own site cannot do, and a small salon that delists usually just loses those bookings. The case for your own site is about the clients you already have, not the ones it finds you.

No, and it is worth being clear about because the opposite gets repeated a lot - including by sites that sell you something else. Their partner terms make it a question of which booking link was used: a Book Now link from your own Fresha profile does not incur the fee, one generated by the marketplace does, and it is charged once rather than on every visit from that client. The ongoing cost is the subscription, charged per bookable team member. For the rate itself, read their pricing page - we are not going to quote you a competitor's price second-hand.

Two diaries on two systems can be double-booked, yes, and that is the honest cost of running both. Most salons handle it by keeping one of them as the master and blocking time in the other, or by sending only the regulars to their own site so the two rarely compete for the same slot.

An address that is yours, a page that ranks under your own name rather than theirs, your prices and your words without a house style, your client list in your own hands, and a shop if you sell products or vouchers. What you do not get is anybody browsing for a salon and finding you by accident.

They stay on the marketplace, and that is a real cost of leaning on your own site rather than a detail. Years of reviews on a platform profile are not yours to move, and a new site starts with none. It is one more reason to keep the listing rather than close it, and to start asking for Google reviews as well, because those sit on something you do not have to leave behind.
