How much does a restaurant website cost?
A restaurant asks this question twice: once when it opens, and again when the booking platform's invoice arrives. The honest answer has three parts, and the cheapest of them is not the one the quotes make it look like.
Prices read from the plans on every load; the judgement reviewed 8 November 2026.
The short answer
A restaurant website has to run on its own domain, take table bookings and take orders online. Priced three ways:
| Route | What you pay | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| A builder with it built in Webkio |
$44.99 a month Starter at $14.99 plus $30 as 2% on $1,500 of monthly sales; $539.88 a year |
The site and the features in one plan, edited by you, live the same day. Card processing is extra on every route. |
| A freelancer | from $1,544 to $3,088 as a floor 4 to 8 days at $386 a day, derived below |
Somebody's week. Then hosting, and an invoice for every change. |
| An agency | No published figure three quotes, and the questions below |
A team and a process. Right for a group with unusual needs; rarely for one location. |
The $1,500 a month through the site is an assumption for the table; put your own number in the calculator and the plan and fee recompute. A plan's percentage on sales is what makes the cheapest plan sometimes the dearest.
Year one, on a builder
What the first twelve months come to for a restaurant that builds it itself, at the assumption above.
| The plan (Starter), twelve months | $179.88 |
| The plan's 2% on $1,500 a month of online payments | $360 |
| Card processing | the processor's rate, on every route |
| Your domain name | from your registrar, typically a small yearly fee |
| Your time to set it up | an afternoon with the words and photos ready |
| Total of the lines with a figure | $539.88 |
Which route fits a restaurant
A builder, if
You run one restaurant and want the menu, bookings and ordering live this month, edited by whoever is on shift.
A freelancer, if
You have a design in your head nobody's template matches, and the budget for the week it takes to build it, plus the invoices after.
An agency, if
You run a group with its own ordering logistics, several locations and a marketing team to feed it.
The same site on other builders
Published renewal prices, with the date each was read, for the cheapest plan that covers the same needs. "Not covered" means no first-party product for it.

What moves the price for a restaurant
Online ordering
A menu page is a brochure; a menu people can order from is a shop with a kitchen behind it. It is the single feature that changes the plan you need and the thing a custom build charges most for.
Table bookings
A booking form that emails you is cheap and useless on a Saturday. Real availability, party sizes and a deposit for large tables is what the booking line is paying for.
How often the menu changes
A seasonal menu typed into a builder takes ten minutes. The same change through a developer is an invoice, which is why so many restaurant sites show last spring's menu.
Photography
Six to eight real dishes shot in daylight. Done by you, free; done by a food photographer, usually the largest single line in a restaurant site budget and worth it.
The costs that are not on the quote
- Reservation commissions. Third-party booking platforms charge per cover seated, every month, forever. A booking system that is part of the site charges a plan, not a diner.
- Delivery marketplace fees. If orders come through a marketplace app, the fee per order dwarfs any website cost. Your own ordering page is the alternative the website pays for.
- Card fees. Taken by the payment processor on every online order or deposit, on any builder or build, before the money reaches you.
What a restaurant can skip
Money commonly spent on this kind of site that does not need spending.
- A reservations widget charged per cover: the booking page in the plan does the same job for the plan price.
- A custom-coded menu: a menu typed as text in the builder is searchable, readable on a phone and changed in a minute.
- A video hero. Photos of six real dishes load faster and sell more.
Free things worth doing first
- Put the menu, hours and holiday hours on your Google Business Profile today; it is where most "near me" searches end.
- Type the menu out as text before you buy anything. A PDF menu is the most expensive free thing a restaurant publishes.
- Decide whether you want bookings, ordering, or both. Each changes the plan, and half of restaurants need only one.
If you ask an agency
Agencies do not publish prices and we will not guess one. Ask each of three what is included and what is billed after, who owns the domain and the content, what a change costs after launch, what hosting and maintenance are per year, and whether you can edit the site yourself.
Where the freelancer floor comes from. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median web developer wage at $92,650 a year (Occupational Outlook Handbook), $386 a day over 240 working days. A freelancer charges more than a salaried day, so 4 to 8 days at that rate is a floor, not an estimate.

Questions
Can I get a restaurant website for free?
You can build and publish one for free on a Webkio subdomain, with the menu as text. Taking table bookings or orders through it needs a paid plan, which is the line most restaurants cross in the first month.
Is a custom-built restaurant website worth it?
Rarely for one location. A restaurant site has a well-understood job - menu, hours, book, order - that builders now do out of the box. A custom build makes sense for a group with its own ordering logistics.
How much do online ordering fees cost?
On Webkio, the plan's percentage on online payments (shown in the table above) plus the card processor's fee. On a marketplace app, typically a far larger share of each order; our restaurant commission calculator does the comparison on your numbers.
How long does a restaurant website take to build?
An afternoon on a builder if the menu and photos are ready, a week or two for a freelancer. The menu is the long part in both cases.
