Equipment hire website examples

Equipment hire is a trade of quantities: six of the same breaker, two of the same mixer, one big excavator. The designs here count them as units, price by day, weekend and week, hold a deposit against damage, and show a tradesperson on a phone what is free for Monday without a call to the yard.

3 designs below, and the six things every good equipment hire website has. Designs and listed sites read live; the judgement reviewed 8 November 2026.

What a good equipment hire website has

The things the examples below have in common, and the reason each one is there.

1

Units, not listings

Six identical breakers are one page with a quantity of six, so three can be out and three shown free. It is the difference between a catalogue and a hire system.

2

Day, weekend and week

The three rates every hire shop quotes, visible on the page, with the weekend counted as the shop counts it.

3

Deposits and damage in writing

The deposit held, what counts as damage, what the hirer pays. Agreed at booking, so the return inspection is a checklist, not a negotiation.

4

Delivery or collection, with a price

Heavy kit is delivered. A delivery fee by distance, or collection from the yard with its hours, chosen at booking.

5

What comes with it

Blades, bits, fuel, a trailer. Listed per item, so the hirer leaves with everything and the site does not promise what is not in the box.

6

Terms a hirer can read

Who can hire, what identification you need, what happens when kit comes back late or broken. Short, in plain words, linked from the booking and the confirmation.

What goes wrong

  • One listing per physical machine, so availability is wrong the moment two are hired.
  • A weekend rate that does not match how the yard actually counts Friday to Monday.
  • Damage terms explained verbally at collection and disputed at return.

Frequently asked questions

How do I list six of the same machine?

As one item with a quantity of six. Availability counts units for the dates asked, so the page shows how many are free rather than a yes or no.

Can I charge a weekend as one day?

Yes. Day, weekend and week are separate rates, and you decide what a weekend covers.

How are deposits handled?

Held on the hirer's card and released at return, with damage terms agreed at booking. The guide on deposits and damage has example wording.

Can trade customers book without paying upfront?

A reservation can be taken without online payment and settled at the counter or on your own invoice, and the calendar still counts the unit as out. Online payment can be required for everyone else.
