Donors, receipts & recurring gifts

2 min read Updated Jul 30, 2026

Every gift is recorded against a donor, receipted automatically, and visible alongside the rest of your money.

Your donors

Donations → Donors lists everyone who has given, what they gave and when. Donors also become contacts, so a gift shows up on the same timeline as that person's orders, bookings and messages - one view of the relationship rather than a separate donor silo.

The thank-you receipt

Every donor receives a thank-you email the moment their gift succeeds. It doubles as their receipt, which matters to anyone claiming the gift on tax.

You can set your own subject and message in Donations → Settings; leave them blank and a sensible default is used. Write it as if you are speaking to one person - this email gets read far more carefully than anything else you send them.

You also get your own notification for each donation, so you know without watching the dashboard.

The donor wall

If your page shows a donor wall, recent givers appear there by display name. Repeat and monthly donors are de-duplicated, so a loyal monthly supporter does not fill the whole wall.

How monthly gifts renew

A monthly gift is a real subscription: Stripe charges it on schedule, and each renewal is recorded as a new paid donation with its own receipt. So your totals, goal progress and Transactions always reflect money actually received, not a promise made months ago.

If a donor cancels their monthly gift, the commitment is marked ended. Gifts already received stay exactly as they are.

Where the money shows up

Donations appear in Payments → Transactions alongside your other income, with the fund and any A/B variant attached. Payouts follow your Stripe schedule, the same as shop takings.
