Understanding notifications
Two different things get called notifications: the alerts inside your account, and the emails your site sends. They are managed in different places.
In-app notifications
The bell in the top bar, and Messages > Notifications, are your feed of things that happened - a new order, a booking, an enquiry. Each one links straight to the record it is about.
They are personal to you. A team member's bell shows what they can see, not what you see, so do not assume a colleague got the same alert.
Mark them read as you deal with them. Left unread, the feed stops meaning anything within a week.
Email notifications
Your site emails people automatically:
| Who | What they get |
|---|---|
| You | A new enquiry, a new order, a new booking. |
| Your customers | Order and booking confirmations, appointment and pick-up reminders, welcome emails when they subscribe. |
During a sudden burst of activity your owner alerts are collapsed into one summary email rather than one per event - so a busy morning does not bury your inbox. Nothing is lost; every record is in the dashboard.
Where to change things
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Who your emails come from | Settings > Email sending - From name, Reply-to and sending domain. See Set up how your emails are sent. |
| Where order and booking alerts go | The notify address in Settings > Shop and Settings > Bookings. |
| Appointment reminders | Settings > Bookings, as hours before. |
| What was actually sent | Your email log. |
If something is not arriving
- Check the email log to see whether it was sent at all.
- Check spam.
- Confirm the notify address is one you actually read.
- See Emails not sending.
